Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. With a passion for family law, Ashley's present legal practice revolves around various aspects of family issues. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony issues, marital property division child custody battles, and child support arrangements. She also handles post-divorce and enforcement matters, step-parent adoptions and private party adoptions, as well as concerns about child welfare. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since the year 2019. She helps parties resolve their disputes without the necessity of litigation or court involvement. Ashley mediates private disputes and also court-appointed mediation for individuals who want to stay clear of the court process and litigation.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She then pursued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. Graduating in 2013, she excelled academically, ranking among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was a Note Editor for the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This proved her dedication to scholarship and legal research.
Ashley began her clerkship career after she completed her law degree. She worked for distinguished jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to be serving as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned to her home town of Hagerstown to clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, deepening her understanding of the local legal landscape. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her primary focus was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters pertaining to child welfare. Through her dedication, Ashley played a vital role in helping children who were victims of neglect or abuse at the from their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to social justice extended beyond her legal profession as she actively served as an officer of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, which worked hard to educate the public about human trafficking in the tristate area.
In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the fields of family law - divorce, child support, custody, and guardianships - as well for estate planning, such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxy and mediation.
Ashley created Wilburn Law Office, LLC, 2023, with the intention of providing an individual approach to each client's need.
